Today, July 18, at Dinamo Stadium took place Charity Relay Race - organized by Hospices of Hope Moldova in partnership with the British Embassy in Chisinau. The race brought together Olympic athletes and representatives of the diplomatic corps to support palliative care in Moldova. Among the participating embassies and organizations were: the British Embassy, the Embassy of Germany, the Embassy of Sweden, Swiss Cooperation Office in Moldova and UNDP Moldova.
Thus, H.E. Steven Fisher, the Ambassador of Great Britain mentioned “Hospices of Hope Moldova does a fantastic thing here in the country, helping an average of 200 Moldovans a month. Today's event brings the Olympic spirit to Moldova, just in time. I thank every diplomatic mission that participates in this race and the people who contribute to this noble cause."
The country representative of Hospices of Hope Moldova, Lara Moraru, stated that: “it is a welcome event that brought together the athletes of the Republic of Moldova and the diplomatic corps to continue the free palliative care services. Through this event we collect funds for continuing the activity of the national network Hospices of Hope Moldova so that we can reach as many patients as possible from Orhei, Soroca, Cahul, Taraclia and Ocnita”.
The event consisted of a relay race, the teams of 5 participants ran a 5 x 400 m relay and in the end all the teams ran a 400 m stadium circle as a sign of friendship. Each of the teams was assisted by Olympic athletes [Olesea Cojuhari - 400 m Olympic runner at the London 2012 Olympic Games, Iaroslav Musinșchi - marathon runner at the London 2012 Olympic Games, Beijing 2008, Sydney 2000, Oleg Tarnavschi - kayak-canoe at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games and Marina Nikișenko - hammer thrower at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and Rio de Janeiro 2016 for a 400 m race].
